Treating Moms Well

Event Chair Cathleen Hughes, Mrs. Illinois 2012 Lisa Sonnenberg, and HAS CEO Marco Jacome at Treating Moms Well 2012

Treating Moms Well was established in 2008 to create awareness about Postpartum Depression (PPD) and to raise funds to help women who would otherwise lack access to lifesaving PPD services. Approximately 15-20 percent of new mothers—950,000 American women every year—experience PPD, making it the #1 complication of childbirth in the United States. Left untreated, PPD has serious, long-term consequences for both mothers and children. And although the Illness responds extremely well to treatment, 95 percent of sufferers go undiagnosed. This is where HAS is making a difference. Our PPD program is the only community-based PPD program in Illinois. Our services are available to all women, including those who lack health insurance or the means to access private services. While we remain as committed as ever to that goal, we have decided to forego a formal luncheon in order to concentrate our resources directly on assisting as many women and families as possible.  You can still help us reach Chicago families in need by making a direct contribution to the PPD Program.  Please consider making a donation!
